Magurki, Mountain summit in Gorce Mountains, Poland
Magurki is a mountain summit in the Gorce range that stands at 1108 meters elevation. It sits between the valleys of Jaszcze and Forędówka streams, serving as a central landmark within the mountain system.
The summit received a wooden observation tower built in 2015, financed by local authorities using European Union funding. This addition made mountain views much more accessible to visitors.
The name Magurki comes from a Romanian word meaning freestanding mountain massif, a reminder of Vlach settlers who built communities in these valleys. You can still sense these heritage connections when walking through the area and exploring the peaks they named.
An educational trail forms a 10-kilometer loop starting from Jaszcze Duże parking, passing through Łonna, Pańska Przehybka, and Tomaśkula before returning. The path is well-marked and gives you a natural way to explore the area at your own pace.
Four panoramic boards placed at the observation platform help visitors identify distant mountain ranges, including the peaks of the Great Fatra in Slovakia. These interpretive panels give you a fuller understanding of the landscape that extends far beyond the immediate surroundings.
