The Holy Cross Lake spans 14 hectares with a maximum depth of 6.5 meters and features a 1.5-kilometer shoreline in northern Gniezno.
Initially named Lake Bielidło, this channel lake formed during the Pleistocene period and contains organic deposits dating back 10,000 years.
The lake area includes the Saint Cross Cemetery on its southern shore, while functioning as a protected water bird sanctuary.
The lake permits only passive recreation activities, with walking paths along the shore for nature observation and photography.
The Gniezno Stream flows through the lake at 103 meters above sea level, contributing to the regional microclimate and biodiversity.
