Palace in Zagórze Śląskie, palace in Zagórze Śląskie, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
The Palace in Zagórze Śląskie is a large manor house built in the late 1800s, situated in a valley between two mountain ranges. The main building displays typical 19th-century architecture with tall windows and ornamental details, surrounded by spacious grounds featuring old trees and walking paths.
The building was designed by Karl Lüdecke in the mid-1800s and initially served as a residence for a wealthy family. After the Second World War, Soviet forces occupied it and it was later converted into a children's sanatorium, until a fire in 1968 damaged significant portions of the structure.
The palace sits at the heart of Zagórze Śląskie village and shapes how locals see their community. Residents still connect their sense of place to this building, which once anchored the life and rhythm of the entire area.
The site sits in a quiet valley with good access to nearby natural attractions such as mountains, caves, and forests. Visitors can explore the estate and park on foot and view the historic structures up close.
The palace underwent restoration beginning in 2018 by the church organization Caritas after decades of abandonment. The project aims to revive the building and convert it into a senior home called Poranek while preserving its historical character.
