Saint Anne and the Visitation of Mary church in Lubawa, church building in Lubawa, Poland

Saint Anne and the Visitation of Mary church is a Gothic brick building with a rectangular plan and a square tower on its west side. The nave is lit by narrow, pointed windows typical of Gothic design, and the walls are reinforced with stepped buttresses decorated with niches and pinnacles.

Construction began around 1330 after Bishop Hermann promoted the town's rebuilding in the early 14th century. The building suffered damage from fires in the 1500s and later received a chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara, along with several renovations that preserved its structure through later centuries.

The church serves as a gathering place where local people come to pray, light candles, and celebrate religious holidays together. Its name honors two saints and reflects its role as the spiritual center of the community since medieval times.

The building is easy to spot thanks to its distinctive tower on the west side and sits at the heart of the town. Visitors will find the best views of the Gothic windows and wall patterns from outside, especially during daylight hours when the details are clearly visible.

The chapel of Saint Barbara on the south side contains beneath it a crypt where members of the Mortęski family are buried, connecting visitors to local noble families of the past. The ornate monstrance from the late 1600s and several silver liturgical objects housed here are remarkable examples of craftsmanship preserved within the sanctuary.
