Kolejowa wieża ciśnień w Skierniewicach

The Kolejowa wieża ciśnień w Skierniewicach is a railway water supply structure built from reinforced concrete with eight supporting columns and a dual-chamber cylindrical tank. The building sits on Dworcowa Street and retains much of its original design despite sealed windows.

The tower was built in 1928 to supply water to steam locomotives and railway buildings, continuing this role until 1993. It represents a period when Poland was modernizing its railway network.

The tower shows how central water was to railway operations and reflects the community's connection to industrial development. It stands as a reminder of how the city supported its transport infrastructure.

The structure is easily reached from the railway station on Dworcowa Street in the town center. It can only be viewed from outside as the interior is not open to visitors.

The building uses an innovative reinforced concrete skeleton system with rectangular support columns that remain visible. Ground-level pipeline channels show how water was efficiently distributed to serve multiple railway facilities.
