Old palace of Świerklaniec, Renaissance palace in Świerklaniec, Poland.
The Old palace of Świerklaniec is a Renaissance castle in southern Poland with extensive grounds featuring gardens and water features. The building combines original Gothic elements with later classical additions, while the surrounding parkland displays stone sculptures and carefully maintained green spaces.
The palace was built in 1501 and underwent major transformations during the Renaissance that reshaped it from a Gothic fortress into an elegant residence. Under Carl Lazarus Henckel von Donnersmarck's direction, the building acquired its distinctive proportions and classical features.
The Donnersmarck family shaped the estate as a reflection of their social standing and wealth across generations. The surviving gardens and structures today reveal how prominent landowners expressed their status through architecture and landscape design.
The estate is accessible by local roads and the Cavalier Palace guest house remains open for visitors interested in studying regional architecture. Before visiting, check current opening times and access limitations, as not all areas are permanently open to the public.
Carbon Studio created a digital reconstruction of the palace using historical photographs, allowing visitors to virtually explore the building in its original form. This provides a unique way to see the lost architecture and interior details that no longer exist today.
