"Labirynt" sculpture in Szczecin

The Labirynt sculpture at the Wojska Polskiego Avenue intersection is constructed from red clinker bricks arranged to form three figures. The work sits directly in front of a tenement building, creating a point of visual focus along the street.

The work was created in 1997 as a collaboration between a local bank and Szczecin's city government. Designer Ryszard Wilk developed this contemporary piece for the historic district.

The sculpture depicts a woman, a tree, and a man rendered in clinker brick at a busy street crossing. It has become a landmark where passersby naturally pause and gather.

The sculpture sits at a highly visible corner and is easily reached on foot from nearby streets. Visitors can view it from the surrounding sidewalks and approach it from multiple directions.

The work was originally designed with water jets that sprayed across the clinker bricks, creating shifting color effects. This fountain function enhanced the surface appearance and changed seasonally with the weather.
