The Igreja Paroquial de Santiago de Tavira features twin bell towers, an ornate main portal, and a white wooden ceiling contrasting with dark woodwork.
The Order of Santiago constructed this church following the Moorish expulsion, though it required reconstruction after the devastating 1755 earthquake by architect Francisco Xavier Fabri.
The interior contains a collection of 16th-century paintings depicting scenes from Christ's life, along with statues of saints and gilded wooden decorations.
Located near Tavira Castle, the church welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM.
The church houses the tombs of seven Christian knights who lost their lives during conflicts with Moors in the 13th century.
