Urban site "Fabric"

The Fabric district extends through the central-eastern section of Timișoara, featuring streets lined with industrial buildings and traditional architecture from multiple periods.

The district originated in 1744 when the first manufacturing facilities received construction approval, transforming the area into an industrial center by the nineteenth century.

Different communities including Romanians, Serbs, Germans, and Italians established their homes and workshops in Fabric, creating a diverse manufacturing neighborhood.

The district contains numerous preserved buildings accessible by tram, with the Timișoreana Brewery and Mercury Palace among the main architectural attractions.

The Fabric district houses Romania's first brewery, established during the Habsburg period, which continues to produce beer in its original location.
