Resava cave

Resava Cave is a limestone system that extends 2304 meters into the mountain across three levels. Throughout its chambers, stalactites and stalagmites hang and rise, while crystalline formations sparkle between them like frozen water.

Shepherds discovered the cave entrance in 1962, which sparked immediate scientific investigation of the site. A decade later it opened to visitors and became a popular destination for tourism.

People have sheltered in this cave since prehistoric times, as stone tools and hunting weapons discovered here reveal their presence. These artifacts tell the story of human life across thousands of years in this part of Serbia.

The cave maintains a steady temperature of 7 degrees Celsius year-round, keeping it cool throughout your visit. Guided tours follow 800 meters of lit pathways and are mainly available from April through October.

The Hall of Fused Columns displays stalagnates that shattered during earthquakes and naturally rejoined over millennia. This gradual healing reveals how slowly and powerfully the cave's forces reshape its formations.
