Tuymazy

Tuymazy is an industrial city in the Republic of Bashkortostan situated on relatively flat land about 152 kilometers west of Ufa. The city developed along a railway line and remains a working town centered on oil production and local commerce.

The settlement began in 1912 as a station village during construction of the Simbirsk-Ufa railway line. It gained city status in 1960 following oil discoveries in the region, which became the foundation for its industrial growth.

The town brings together Tatar, Russian, and Bashkir communities who have built their lives here and kept their own languages and traditions alive.
