Muravlenko

Muravlenko is an oil production center located in the Yamalo-Nenets region of western Siberia, surrounded by arctic tundra and scattered lakes. The settlement sits on relatively flat terrain above a major petroleum basin that forms the economic foundation of the community.

The settlement was founded in 1984 to support petroleum extraction operations in the region. It gained the status of a city in 1990, transforming into the administrative center for the energy industry that had already begun developing the local oil fields.
