Verhnij Kuzminskij Pond, Stausee in Russland
Verhnij Kuzminskij Pond is a reservoir in Moscow's Kuzminki District surrounded by tall trees and vegetation as part of a larger park area. The water is fed by natural streams and supports water lilies and other aquatic plants.
The pond was originally part of a vast estate belonging to the Russian noble Golitsyn family and served as recreation and water display on their lands. Over time, the area became a public park spanning more than 600 hectares as part of Moscow's efforts to maintain green spaces.
The pond's name reflects its location in the Kuzminki District, and today it serves as a gathering place where Moscow residents come to step away from urban noise and connect with nature.
The site is accessible through the pathways of the Kuzminki-Lyublino Natural and Historical Park and offers benches and small wooden bridges for exploring different areas. Visitors can expect walking trails and cleared paths, making it easy to move around the site.
Ancient oak and linden trees line the water's edge, some hundreds of years old, providing shade and habitat for birds and small animals in the park. These old trees create a timeless setting and connect visitors to the place's long past.
