Vlakhernskoye-Kuzminki

Vlakhernskoye-Kuzminki is a protected forest park in southeastern Moscow spanning over 1,000 hectares with diverse environments including lakes, meadows, and woodlands featuring old-growth trees. The grounds contain several architectural structures and museum buildings scattered throughout the property.

The area took its name from a miller named Kuzma in the early 18th century when it functioned as a mill settlement. The site later became part of the Golitsyn family estate and eventually transformed into today's protected park.

Several museums on the grounds showcase Russian literature, historical carriages, automobiles, and the Golitsyn family estate. You can explore exhibitions that tell the story of how Russian nobility lived and what they collected.

The park can be reached via Kuzminskaya Street and offers cafes, walking paths, sports areas, and rental services for visitors. Plenty of facilities and marked trails make it easy to explore the grounds on foot.

The park is home to over 100 species of land vertebrates including foxes, squirrels, and rabbits living among the trees and meadows. This thriving wildlife presence makes it a rare sanctuary for nature within an urban setting.
