The Kola Sami Museum presents extensive collections of traditional tools, clothing, and artifacts that illustrate the life of indigenous Arctic people.
Founded in 1962 by geography teacher Pavel Yuryev at Lovozero Secondary School, the museum received official status as a territorial department in 1968.
The museum displays petroglyphs from the first millennium BCE, traditional reindeer harnesses, and interior elements of 19th-century Sami wooden houses.
Located at Sovetskaya Street 288 in Lovozero, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with guided tours available.
The archaeological collection features a stone with ancient rock carvings and showcases the development of reindeer herding through centuries.
