Серноводская пещера

Sernovodsk Cave extends roughly 570 meters into the western slope of Sernovodsk Highland, consisting of two large chambers connected by narrow corridors. The structure reveals natural rooms of varying sizes that formed over time through geological processes.

Mining engineer M.S. Sergeev first documented the cave in 1907, exploring only about 50 meters of its full length at that time. This initial scientific record marked the beginning of modern understanding about the cave's extent and geological importance.

The cave walls display inscriptions from the 19th and early 20th centuries that record visits from earlier explorers. These markings show how people across generations have been drawn to explore this underground space and leave traces of their passage.

Access to the cave requires permission from the local directorate managing the site, and the entrance is located about one kilometer from Sernovodsk town. It is advisable to arrange access in advance with the responsible authorities to ensure entry and plan your visit properly.

The cave system has two separate entrances located about 2 kilometers apart, which makes it an engaging destination for exploration. Natural light penetrates through sinkholes at specific locations, creating unexpected moments of brightness in the otherwise dark underground passages.
