Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park

Krasnoyarsk Stolby is a national park near Krasnoyarsk featuring numerous granite pillars that rise from thick forest. The terrain spans two visitor zones with a mix of rocky outcrops, woodland, and river valleys spread across extensive protected land.

The area was first explored by European scientists in the early 18th century during mapping expeditions across Siberia. The rock formations were later designated as a protected reserve to safeguard the landscape and its plant and animal life.

The granite pillars have long been a training ground for local climbers, shaping the region's strong mountaineering identity. People from Krasnoyarsk continue to visit regularly to practice and develop their skills on the rock faces.

The park has marked trails connecting major rock formations, and buses run regularly from Krasnoyarsk city center to the entrance. May through September offers the most reliable weather and easiest trail access for exploring the granite pillars.

While climbers worldwide know about these granite formations, few visitors realize that local legends describe them as giant stone fingers pushing up from the earth. This centuries-old story continues to shape how local people perceive and name individual rocks.
