Per’ya Rock, Natural rock formation in Zykovsky Selsovet, Russia
Per'ya Rock is a natural stone formation in Zykovsky Selsovet within Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park, rising with four prominent vertical columns of syenite. Two large caves open on the western face, and the base spans a considerable width at its highest point.
Local residents achieved the first successful ascent of the rock in 1899 following an unsuccessful attempt a few years before. This accomplishment marked the beginning of regular human exploration and use of the formation.
The rock draws rock climbers from across the region who test themselves on its steep faces and narrow passages. Local climbers have shaped how people interact with the formation, treating it as a proving ground for their skills.
Visitors should bring sturdy footwear and layers, as the location sits in mountainous terrain where weather can change quickly. Access requires planning since the site sits within a national park away from developed areas.
The rock is known for a special descent route called Shkuroder that skilled climbers navigate in just a few seconds. This narrow, steep passage sets it apart as a notable feature among experienced climbers.
