Швейцария, Zoo in Prioksky District, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
Switzerland Zoo is a facility with around 400 animals from about 50 species spread across 3 hectares in the northeastern part of Nizhny Novgorod. The grounds contain multiple enclosures and areas designed to house mammals, birds, and other animals in organized sections.
The facility was established in 1997 under the name Mishutka before being renamed to Switzerland Zoo. This event marked the opening of Nizhny Novgorod's first zoological garden.
The zoo displays animals that live in Russian territories and the region around Nizhny Novgorod. Visitors can watch European lynx, brown bears, and wisents, which represent the traditional wildlife of this part of the world.
The facility is accessible on foot through several entrances, and the pathways are relatively flat and easy to walk. Comfortable shoes are recommended since exploring takes several hours.
Alongside wild animals like tigers and lions, the zoo also displays camels and domesticated species side by side. This blend of wild and tame creatures creates an unusual and varied experience for visitors.
