The Museum of Architecture spans 38 hectares of forest park land, featuring 16 traditional wooden buildings representing regional construction methods and design patterns.
The location originated as Makhotin farm in the 1850s before becoming Shchelokovsky farm in the 1870s, when a local grocer family purchased the property.
The architectural complex presents authentic peasant houses, granaries, barns, and churches transferred from various districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The museum conducts guided tours from Wednesday to Sunday, requiring advance reservations for visitors to explore the wooden architecture collection.
Among the exhibits stands a rare water well with a stepping wheel, demonstrating historical engineering solutions for water extraction in rural areas.
