Pugachov's Oak

Pugachov's Oak is a centuries-old tree in Mariy Chodra National Park in Mari El. The massive oak displays a thick trunk and sprawling branches covered with dense foliage throughout the year.

The tree was named after Yemelyan Pugachev, a leader of a major peasant uprising in the 18th century who reportedly rested beneath its branches. This connection to historical events makes it a landmark associated with that turbulent period in Russian history.
