Крестовоздвиженская церковь, Orthodox church in Vasilyevo, Russia.
The Exaltation of the Cross Church in Vasilyevo is a Russian Revival structure built on a substantial quadrangle base topped with five prominent domes. The building displays the characteristic architectural features typical of this style, with strong vertical proportions.
Construction of the church began in 1870 and followed the Russian Revival style popular at that time. The building suffered major losses during the Soviet period when it was closed in 1931 and stripped of its domes and bell tower.
The church serves as a place for Orthodox worship where the community gathers for services conducted in Church Slavonic. Beyond religious ceremonies, it hosts an educational gymnasium that began welcoming students in 2010.
The church is located in Vasilyevo in the Zelenodolsky District and offers regular services for visitors. Modest dress and respectful behavior are expected, as this remains an active place of worship and religious life.
The building gained recognition as a tentative heritage site in 1994, leading to extensive restoration efforts. A comprehensive reconstruction between 2009 and 2014 returned the structure to much of its former state after decades of neglect.
