Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations, government organization in Moscow, Russia
The Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations was a government body in Russia responsible for overseeing research institutions and scientific work across the country. Its headquarters in Moscow coordinated universities, research centers, and scientific organizations to ensure they met national standards and operated effectively.
The agency was created in 2013 to manage scientific institutions more directly and assume control of several institutes from the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was dissolved in 2018 when the Russian president transferred its functions to the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
The office was located in Moscow and maintained an official website where visitors could find information about ongoing projects and initiatives. Today, researchers and visitors interested in Russian science policy can access archived materials and government records documenting the agency's activities.
Between 2014 and 2016, the agency launched an ambitious computerization project with a budget of about 570 million rubles to implement new digital systems across its operations. The goal was to streamline communication between headquarters and research institutes while introducing more than 30 different management and data analysis platforms.
