Ekateringofsky Bridge, Road bridge over Ekateringofka River in Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Ekateringofsky Bridge carries traffic across the Ekateringofka River at the intersection with Rizhsky Prospect. The structure spans the water with three sections that support the roadway above the flow.
The bridge was fundamentally rebuilt after sustaining bomb damage during 1941. This transformation shaped its current design and how it functions as a river crossing.
The bridge received its name from the adjacent Catherinehof Park, which Peter the Great presented as a gift to his wife Catherine in 1711.
The crossing is straightforward to access on foot or by vehicle under typical conditions. You can reach it directly from Rizhsky Prospect where the bridge connects to the adjacent streets.
The original structure was a bascule bridge with metal construction and counterweights that could raise to allow boat traffic to pass. This system was replaced by the fixed structure you see today.
