The Hermitage Theatre features a rectangular hall with classical design elements and two performance spaces: the main stage and a smaller experimental venue.
The theatre building, constructed in 1895, became the permanent home of the Moscow Theatre of Miniatures in 1959 before transforming into the Hermitage Theatre.
Under the leadership of director Mikhail Levitin since 1987, the theatre presents adaptations of works by Bulgakov, Gogol, and other Russian literary masters.
Located at 3 Karetniy Ryad Street, the theatre offers performances on its main stage and small stage, with shows starting at 19:00 on weekdays.
The theatre survived property disputes and attempted evictions in the 1990s, continuing performances even during adverse conditions including rain penetrating the building.
