Saints Peter and Paul

Saints Peter and Paul is a white stone church building with a three-tiered bell tower and five golden domes that dominate the skyline of Severouralsk. The structure rises from a hilltop location on Sverdlovsk Street and impresses visitors through its proportions and classical architectural elements.

Construction of this church began in 1767 with funding from Pohodyashina and was completed in 1798 under the guidance of Metropolitan Paul. The extended building period reflects the demands of the elaborate construction process during this historical era.

The church functions as an active place of worship for the local Orthodox community and serves as a focal point for religious gatherings throughout the year. Its distinctive golden domes make it instantly recognizable and serve as a visual anchor in the town's landscape.

The church occupies an elevated position with good visibility from the southern entry points of the town. The hilltop location makes access somewhat steep, but the central position on Sverdlovsk Street makes the building easy to locate.

The five golden domes create a striking contrast against the winter sky when snow blankets the surrounding landscape, making the structure appear to sparkle like a glittering jewel. This winter view becomes one of the most memorable visual moments that visitors take away from Severouralsk.
