Kosvinsky Kamen

Kosvinsky Kamen is a mountain summit in Sverdlovsk Oblast rising to 1519 meters, with bare rock faces and small lakes that form from melting snow near the peak. The terrain around this location features the characteristic landscape of the northern Ural range.

The mountain gained strategic importance in 1994 when a military command center was constructed beneath its surface, protected by 300 meters of solid granite. This development marked a significant moment in the site's modern history.

The mountain name comes from the Kosva River, showing how water features shape the identity of peaks in this region. Local residents view this summit as a key landmark that defines their surrounding landscape.

The ascent follows the established trail called Vertikalny Kilometr, which requires sturdy equipment given the exposed terrain. Weather conditions at this elevation shift quickly and can become challenging without proper preparation.
