Дерево жизни, Bronze monument near Art Gallery, Moscow, Russia
The Baum des Lebens, also known as the Tree of Life, is a bronze sculpture in Moscow, Russia, shaped like a tree with detailed branches and ornamental patterns covering its surface. The metalwork runs from the base all the way up through the branches, forming a single continuous structure.
The sculpture was made in 2007 by Zurab Tsereteli, a Georgian-Russian artist known for large public works across Moscow. He created it during a period when the city was actively placing new art in public spaces.
The sculpture carries a name rooted in one of humanity's oldest symbols, the tree as a source of life and connection between earth and sky. Walking around it, visitors can read small details in the metalwork that echo this idea without any text or explanation.
The sculpture stands outdoors and can be visited at any time of year, though natural light makes the bronze surface much easier to read. Walking around the whole piece takes only a few minutes, but it is worth taking the time to look at it from different angles.
Zurab Tsereteli has placed so many works across Moscow that some residents joke about losing count of them. This piece is one of the smaller and less noticed ones in his output, which makes it easier to approach and observe without crowds.
