Moskvarium is a public aquarium within the VDNH complex that recreates habitats for freshwater and marine animals from around the world. The facility spreads across multiple zones with numerous tanks where visitors observe fish, sea turtles, sharks, and other ocean creatures.
The aquarium was founded in 2012 and opened in 2015, bringing Moscow its first major public marine facility. The opening marked an important milestone for marine education in the city.
The center draws its name from Moscow and features species connected to Russian waters and research traditions. Visitors encounter animals that hold meaning in local wildlife knowledge and environmental awareness.
The facility opens daily and is accessible to all visitors, with different areas to explore at your own pace. Wear comfortable shoes since you will walk through several zones and levels throughout your visit.
A highlight is the weekend shows where swimmers perform alongside arapaima fish, among the largest freshwater species on Earth. Seeing these enormous creatures in panoramic tanks creates a memorable part of the experience.
