Pavilion No. 26 Transport at the VDNKh

Pavilion 26 is a monumental building within the VDNKh complex that displays Soviet transportation systems for rail, marine, motor, and air transport. Inside and outside, models, vehicles, and technical equipment are arranged to show how different types of transportation work and operate.

Two architects designed this pavilion in 1937 as part of the Soviet exhibition to showcase progress in various fields. After the Second World War, it was substantially rebuilt and refocused on transportation in the 1960s.

The building reflects how Soviet citizens were shown the achievements in transportation and the importance of progress in daily mobility. The exhibitions communicated ideals about technology and advancement that remain visible today in the pavilion's grand design and layout.

The pavilion is located in the VDNKh recreational park and is easily accessible by public transport. Plan several hours to explore both indoor and outdoor displays, especially if you want to examine technical details closely.

The pavilion displays not only models but also actual vehicles and machines from the Soviet era that were once in daily use. These operational and partially walkable exhibits give a genuine sense of how Soviet engineering worked in practice.
