The Church of Nicholas the Wonderworker stands beside the Leba River in the quiet Gorbunovo neighborhood of Nizhny Tagil. The stone building features a distinctive ship-bow roof shape, three main sections with a tent-roofed bell tower at the center, beige-colored walls, two small domes above the entrance and altar area, and rounded windows decorated with simple carved lines.
The building was originally constructed in the late 1800s as a merchant's winery by G. M. Khlestov. The local community later converted it into a church, officially opening it in 1900 after adding a bell tower and altar area.
The temple serves the Old Believers community, who maintain pre-reform religious traditions and practices. Visitors can observe traditional icon paintings and witness services that follow ancient Russian prayer methods and customs passed down through generations.
The temple is located in a quiet area near the riverside with accessible grounds surrounded by a simple metal fence and gates. A side entrance next to the main door provides access to auxiliary spaces, and visitors can move around the property freely without restrictions.
The building originally served as a merchant's winery and was later adapted into a church by local residents themselves, giving it an unusual shape compared to traditional Russian churches. This repurposing is still visible in the ship-bow roof design that reflects its original commercial function.
