Грозненский дендрологический сад, Arboretum in Grozny, Russia
The Grozny Dendrological Garden is a 58 hectare protected area containing over 600 tree and shrub species. These plants are arranged into eight geographical zones that represent different climate regions and places of origin.
The garden was founded in 1966 to preserve rare plant species and study how they adapt to the regional climate. Over the following decades, it grew into an important scientific institution for forest management in the region.
The garden serves as an educational center where students and researchers study botanical sciences and conduct experiments on plant adaptation methods.
The garden is easy to explore since the zones are clearly marked with plants from North America, the Crimea, the Caucasus, the Far East, Japan, China, Siberia, and Central Asia. Spring or summer offers the best experience when plants are in full leaf and the weather supports comfortable walking.
The site maintains an extensive collection of medicinal plants used for medical research that many visitors overlook when touring the grounds. This botanical range also contributes to local understanding of sustainable forest development.
