Grigory and Aksinya

The 6.5-meter sculpture presents two figures from the novel And Quiet Flows the Don, with Grigory standing near his horse while Aksinya carries a pole.

Sculptor N. Mozhaev designed this monument in 1957, which was first installed in Rostov-on-Don in 1983 before moving to Vyoshenskaya in 1995.

The bronze figures represent central characters from Mikhail Sholokhov's literary work, depicting a scene where Grigory playfully blocks Aksinya's path.

Located on the left bank of the Don River, the monument stands as a regional cultural heritage site that visitors can observe while walking along the riverfront.

The 12-ton sculpture captures a specific moment from the novel, showing Aksinya in a wide skirt with a neck-flap, moving toward the khutor with her carrying pole.
