Герой-пионерҙарға һәйкәл, Memorial monument in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Russia.
The Young Pioneers Memorial in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky is a brick and concrete monument with a stele engraved with names of deceased schoolchildren. The work features a pedestal sculpture showing boys wearing pioneer scarves and stands in a public square surrounded by green spaces.
In January 1943, around 50 schoolchildren in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky were executed by German forces for providing Soviet troops with information about enemy positions. The memorial was later erected to honor these young people.
The memorial honors young pioneers who worked as messengers and gathered information during the war. Their involvement shows how children played a role in resistance efforts during that time.
The monument is located on Arsenalnaya Street and is easily accessible in a public square where visitors can view it at any time. The open setting provides space to examine the inscriptions and sculptures at a comfortable pace.
The monument underwent reconstruction in 1996 under the direction of Mikhail Derkunsky, son of the original sculptor Anatoly Derkunsky. This restoration connected the father's original vision with the care of the next generation.
