Akimov revenue house

The Akimov revenue house is a two-story building with a basement and decorative cartouches bearing the initials 'SA' on its street-facing facade. The structure displays carefully crafted architectural details that distinguish it from neighboring buildings.

The building was constructed in 1899 as a revenue-generating property and later came under the ownership of Anna Stepanovna Akimova in 1911. The structure has passed through different hands over the decades, reflecting the changing history of the region.

The facade displays shell motifs and sculptured heads of mythological figures such as Aphrodite, giving the building an artistic character typical of its era. These decorative elements are a notable feature of the streetscape in this part of town.

The building is located on Ulyanovskaya street in central Rostov-on-Don and is easy to reach on foot. It makes sense to explore the neighborhood to see other historic structures in the immediate area.

In 1920 the building was struck by a projectile that left cracks in the walls and shattered windows, marking physical damage from a turbulent period. These traces remain visible as a reminder of the conflicts that affected the city.
