Arkhangelskoye Palace Theatre

The theatre was built in 1818 by architects Pietro Gonzaga and Joseph Bové as part of Prince Nikolai Yusupov's ambitious plan for the estate. It was created as a hub for artistic performances and cultural gatherings.

The theatre displays original stage sets and curtains created by Pietro Gonzaga, the renowned set designer for La Scala in Milan. These pieces let visitors experience how theatre looked and was presented during the 19th century.

The theatre is located roughly 20 kilometers west of Moscow and operates as part of the Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum, which offers guided tours. Visitors can explore the rooms and attend cultural performances held regularly throughout the year.

The building preserves four historical stage sets from the 19th century, a rare collection of period theatrical design. These surviving pieces show how scenery was constructed and designed back then.
