Demidov estate

The Demidov estate occupies several structures numbered 2, 5, and 6 along Bolshoy Tolmachevsky Lane in central Moscow. The buildings display Russian architectural design from earlier centuries.

The Russian government designated this site as a federal cultural heritage property in the 1960s through a Council of Ministers decree. This recognition protected the structures as important records of Russian architectural history.

The Demidov family, prominent metal manufacturers and mining entrepreneurs, shaped the estate through their architectural choices. You can see how wealthy industrial families of the imperial period built their homes.
