Усадьба Масягина в Старомонетном переулке

The Masyagin Estate is a single-story wooden building designed in Empire style and built on a stone foundation along Staromonetny Lane. The house features a mezzanine level and a sheltered courtyard passage as part of its original design.

After the 1812 fire, merchant I. Y. Masyagin bought the damaged land in 1818 and had a wooden house built by 1819. The building reflects Moscow's rebuilding period following the major destruction of that year.

The mansion reflects how Moscow's merchant families lived and built their homes in the early 1800s, with its distinctive mezzanine and covered courtyard walkway. These features show the tastes and daily habits of wealthy residents from that period.

The estate requires careful restoration work using traditional methods and materials. It is advisable to check current access information before visiting and to view the ongoing work from outside the construction area.

The building underwent a specialized restoration approach in 2021 where it was taken apart piece by piece for careful evaluation. Each wooden element was examined and sorted individually before reconstruction could proceed.
