Церковь Рождества Христова, Orthodox church in Zvenigorod, Russia.
The Church of the Nativity of Christ is a stone structure in central Zvenigorod featuring a rectangular main body, a rounded apse, and a three-tiered bell tower. The building houses multiple altar spaces dedicated to different Orthodox traditions and maintains its classical architectural form.
The stone church was constructed in 1805 following the fire that destroyed its wooden predecessor. It remained the sole functioning place of worship in Zvenigorod during 1940-1941 when other religious buildings had ceased operation.
The church serves as a gathering place for Orthodox worship and community events throughout the year. Visitors can observe religious ceremonies and celebrations that remain central to local spiritual life.
The church is situated in the central part of Zvenigorod and can be reached on foot from the main town areas. Visitors should dress modestly and be prepared to follow Orthodox customs when inside the building.
In 2008 the building underwent substantial restoration that removed later non-original additions and installed a new iconostasis. This work restored much of the church's classical interior appearance.
