Vsekokhudozhnik factory and art school
Vsekokhudozhnik is a building complex in Moscow's Aeroport District made up of several structures built in the early Soviet era. The site contains factory buildings, workshops, and an art school with sturdy brick walls, straight lines, and large windows arranged for practical work and teaching.
The site was founded in 1933 as a production center for an artists' cooperative, providing workspace for craftspeople and sculptors. Architect Georgy Golts designed the buildings in a practical Soviet style that combined factory work with art education in a single complex.
The complex was named after an all-Russian artists' cooperative and reflects the Soviet belief that creative workers should share skills and spaces. You can still see how the buildings were arranged so that sculptors, painters, and craftspeople worked side by side in a shared community.
The site is accessible on foot and easiest to reach from Chasovaya Street where the main buildings are located. Some areas are open to visitors, while other parts may require advance notice or are available during special cultural events held here.
One sculpture studio building dates from 1936 and still shows the Soviet craftsmanship techniques visible in its details and construction. This structure is notable because it preserves rare examples of how early Soviet industrial design supported artistic training and production.
