Sturebadet, Public bath and architectural ensemble in Stockholm, Sweden

Sturebadet is a wellness and sports complex in Stockholm that combines traditional swimming pools with modern exercise rooms, spa services, and private Turkish bath rentals. The facility spans multiple floors and brings together classical bathing experiences with contemporary fitness equipment and treatment areas.

Magnus Isæus designed this complex in 1885 and introduced advanced medical bathing treatments and massage methods to Stockholm's wellness scene. The building was later restored and updated with modern facilities while preserving its original nineteenth-century architectural framework.

The complex shows how Swedish bathing traditions have shifted from simple water-based relaxation to integrated fitness and wellness routines. Today, visitors experience both the social habits tied to bathing and the modern expectation of multi-purpose health facilities under one roof.

The venue is centrally located in Stockholm and easily accessible on foot, with enough space for multiple activities happening at the same time. Visitors should plan to spend a few hours exploring the different areas, as offerings range from pools and exercise rooms to spa treatments and private bathing options.

The building preserves original nineteenth-century architectural details while functioning as a contemporary wellness destination, creating an unusual blend of old and new under one roof. This coexistence of historical design with present-day services gives the space a distinctive character rarely found elsewhere in the city.
