Villa Alnäs, Residential villa in Djurgården, Sweden

Villa Alnäs is a residential house on Djurgården that combines yellow wooden structures with later architectural additions from 1905. The building sits along Djurgårdsvägen and displays a mix of original elements from its early period alongside updated features.

Carl Gottfried Küsel, a director of the Swedish East India Company, built the original manor house in 1787 as a family residence. In 1905, architect Torben Grut carried out major renovations that significantly altered the structure.

From 1952 into the early 2000s, the house served as a meeting place for a movement focused on personal and moral development. This long period of use shaped how people understood and experienced the building's role in Stockholm's cultural life.

The house sits on Djurgården island between the Listonhill and Nedre Manilla neighborhoods, making it relatively easy to locate. Visitors should walk along Djurgårdsvägen to reach the site.

The house was completely redesigned by the notable architect Torben Grut, who left his mark on several important Stockholm buildings. These 1905 renovations made it a noteworthy example of how structures were reimagined during that period.
