Krügerska villan, Smedsudden, Historical villa site in Kungsholmen, Sweden
Krügerska villan was a residential building on the Smedsudden headland, featuring Swiss architectural style with ornate facade decorations. A glazed extension was added to it during the 1970s.
The building was constructed in the 1880s by engineer Albin Ferdinand Medberg and originally served as a summer residence. It was completely destroyed by fire in June 1997.
During the 1920s, the villa became a gathering place where the Smedsuddskoloristerna artist group met and carried out their work. The property held special meaning for the creative community in this part of the city.
The location sits on a headland and is easy to access during walks around the area, with good views of surroundings. The only surviving structure is the Annex building from 1884, now maintained by Stockholm City Museum.
The Annex building from 1884 received a green classification from Stockholm City Museum, marking its special preservation value. This recognition showed the structure held historical importance despite the main villa's destruction.
