Erlanderhuset, Apartment building in Marieberg district of Stockholm, Sweden
Erlanderhuset is an apartment building on Kungsholmen island with a wavy white facade that rises 16 stories. It houses roughly 210 residential units positioned to overlook the water and the city.
The building was completed in 1962 by architect Henning Orlando and numbered Sweden's Prime Minister Tage Erlander among its first residents. The structure's name connects directly to this notable early occupant.
The structure is commonly called the Accordion House because of its pleated white exterior, which stands out among other residential buildings in the area. This nickname has become part of how locals and visitors refer to it.
The building features spacious balconies and wide windows that offer far-reaching views from its apartments. Visitors can best appreciate its architectural form from the waterfront or nearby bridges.
The pleated facade was deliberately designed so that each apartment gains optimal viewing angles toward the surroundings. This design solution makes the building visually distinct while making practical use of the space.
