Pearl Bank Apartments

Pearl Bank Apartments was a residential complex featuring a distinctive horseshoe-shaped cylindrical tower in Outram with 38 floors and approximately 280 units. The tower housed two to four-bedroom apartments within its curved structure, along with a sky park on the 28th floor.

The complex was completed in 1976 and was the tallest apartment building in Singapore at that time. It became known as one of Asia's densest residential structures.

The building served as a symbol of Singapore's shift toward modern urban density and architectural innovation. It showed how designers of that era approached fitting many residents into a compact footprint.

The location is best reached by public transport to the Outram area. Since the structure has been demolished, there is no access for visitors today.

The building featured cantilevered exterior stairs that functioned as fire escapes while preserving resident privacy. This clever design solved two opposing needs at once by integrating safety with architectural planning.
