Horehronské podolie

Horehronské podolie is a low-lying valley in central Slovakia that runs along the upper Hron River between Telgárt and Medzibrod. The area combines forests, open pastures, and scattered villages across a diverse patchwork of terrain.

The valley developed from rock formations dating to the pre-Paleozoic era, shaped by the Hron River over millions of years. The landscape and settlements took their current form through natural erosion and human settlement patterns.

Several mineral springs emerge at the edges where this valley meets the surrounding mountains, drawing people who seek their waters. These springs appear in settlements like Brusno and Pohronský Bukovec and have been valued by locals for generations.
