Khuean Srinagarindra National Park, National park in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand
Khuean Srinagarindra National Park is a large forested area in Kanchanaburi Province centered around a reservoir created by damming a river. The terrain includes mountains, waterfalls, caves, and dense forests with diverse plant and animal life.
The park was created in the middle of the 20th century when a dam was built across a river, forming a large water body. The caves in the area served as natural shelters for people in earlier times and still show evidence of ancient habitation.
Hill tribe communities in the surrounding areas practice traditional agriculture and crafts that have shaped the landscape for generations. Their villages and daily routines reflect a way of life closely tied to the forest and water resources.
Multiple entry points and walking paths of varying difficulty are available, some with stairs and railings while others follow natural terrain. Arriving early allows time for hikes, and bringing sturdy footwear and water is advisable.
Several waterfalls of different heights and formations are accessible via trails, with one notable example having multiple tiers that cascade down the mountainside. Additionally, some caves contain ancient wall paintings that reveal early human use of these natural spaces.
