Tanintharyi Nature Reserve

Tanintharyi Nature Reserve is a large protected forest area in the Tenasserim Hills that combines thick evergreen forests with open grasslands across varying elevations. The landscape creates different ecological zones that support a range of plant and animal communities throughout the reserve.

The reserve was established in 2005 to protect natural resources and support scientific research in the region. This designation marked a turning point in environmental conservation efforts for the area.

Hidden cameras have recorded rare animals like binturongs, large civets, and Asian elephants living in their natural habitat here. These images reveal that species thought to be disappearing still survive in this forest.
