Wat Phra That Khao Noi, Buddhist temple on hillside in Nan, Thailand
The temple contains a 9-meter golden Buddha statue in walking position that faces east over the valley and surrounding mountains.
The temple dates back to 1487 and features a main chedi structure housing sacred Buddhist relics within its architectural design.
An annual temple fair occurs in May, during which participants light sky-rockets as a traditional form of respect toward Buddha.
The temple stands 2.5 kilometers southwest of the Nan bus station, accessible by tuk-tuk, songtaew, bicycle, or a moderate uphill walk.
The temple grounds provide eastern orientation for sunrise photography while the elevated position captures the entire Nan valley landscape.
