Doi Phu Kha National Park

Doi Phu Kha National Park, National park in Nan Province, Thailand

Doi Phu Kha National Park is located in Nan Province and spans the Luang Prabang Range with terrain covering approximately 1,704 square kilometers. The landscape features numerous caves, hiking trails, and mountain peaks with the highest reaching about 1,980 meters.

The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation established this park on June 17, 1999, as a protected area. The designation was created to safeguard the region's natural resources and ecosystems.

The park takes its name from the chomphu phu kha tree, which produces pink flowers and is deeply rooted in local botanical traditions. Visitors passing through the park encounter this tree as a living symbol of the region's natural identity.

The park is best accessed through Pua Town, which serves as the main gateway to the area. Visitors should bring sturdy hiking shoes and carry plenty of water, as trails through the terrain can be demanding.

The park shelters rare plant species such as Caryota gigas and Acer wilsonii found only within this reserve in Northern Thailand. These botanical treasures make the area an important sanctuary for endemic flora.
